XSEDE Awards more than 17 million

XSEDE awards more than $17M worth of compute resources

At its September quarterly XSEDE Resource Allocations Committee (XRAC) review, a total of 345.5 million computing hours, valued at $17.275 million, were awarded to 130 deserving projects throughout the country for access to NSF-sponsored high-performance computing resources and services in the XSEDE environment. These awards for allocation will support fascinating investigations ranging from molecular bioscience and astronomy to studies in various fields of the humanities. The awardees have access to XSEDE-allocated resources and services like supercomputers and extended collaborative support services (ECSS).

The total requests for resources was significantly higher, totaling 767 million computing hours, but panel review and resource limitations restricted the final awards to 345.5 million.

XSEDE is a five-year, $121-million project and is supported by the National Science Foundation.
