Submit a Science Highlight

To be considered for the annual Science Highlights publication, your project should have a timeframe of roughly July 2007 through June 2008, and should meet the following criteria:

• Your project should demonstrate some scientific accomplishment, as evidenced by papers in scientific journals, or other tangible results, as opposed to work that is proposed or underway only in the sense of technological demonstration and testing. The emphasis, where possible, should be on work that is transformative (i.e., work that has extraordinary outcomes, such as to revolutionize a discipline or create an entirely new field). • Your work should demonstrate the special capabilities of TeraGrid infrastructure and support. This could include cross-site runs, or projects that have otherwise benefitted from resources at multiple Resource Provider (RP) sites, or specialized TeraGrid resources in data storage, visualization and steering. If there is significant scientific accomplishment, it could also include single-site work on large systems made available via the TeraGrid network.

The External Relations group wants to publicize research that exemplifies a broadness of participation in using the TeraGrid, and is seeking projects that demonstrate gender and ethnic diversity of research. Also, the group is especially interested in highlighting projects from fields that aren't traditionally major users of computational resources, such as the humanities and social sciences, and from under-served institutions, including EPSCoR institutions, minority serving institutions, and 2- and 4-year colleges and universities.

The TeraGrid External Relations group communicates the mission, messages, and successes of the TeraGrid partnership to the public, and promotes the achievements and contributions of TeraGrid users and staff.
