In addition to the "Common TeraGrid Software and Services" (CTSS) available on all TeraGrid resources, the TeraGrid Visualization Working Group has also defined the "Visualization TeraGrid Software and Services" (VTSS). The VTSS consists of a common set of applications and libraries for enabling scientific visualization that can be found on all resources that chose to support it.

To make use of the VTSS, you need to add the components that you wish to use to your environment. You do this either through the use of modules or SoftEnv, by adding the appropriate keys to your .soft file, depending on the resource.

VTSS Components

Below is a table of the visualization software packages that comprise the VTSS. Also included in the table is a brief description of each component, a link to more information, as well as the softenv key (UC/Argonne) and module name (TACC) to use to add the component to your environment.

Mesa	+mesa	mesa	Mesa homepage	A 3-D graphics library with an API similar to that of OpenGL.
Netpbm	+netpbm		Netpbm homepage	Netpbm is a toolkit for manipulation of graphic images, including conversion of images among a variety of different formats.
ParaView	+paraview	paraview	ParaView homepage TGviz ParaView Overview	An extensible, open source, multi-platform application for visualizing large data sets. It supports distributed compotation models for processing large data sets.
VTK	+vtk	vtk	VTK Hompeage	The Visualization Toolkit (VTK): open source software for 3-D computer graphics, image processing, and visualization, compiled with Mesa or NVGL.
